| Composition: Each gram of paste contains: 62.25 mg ampicillin (as trihydrate). Properties: Ampicillin is a semi-synthetic penicillin, active against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Indications: Calves and lambs: respiratory tract infections caused by Pasteurella spp, gastro-intestinal infections caused by E. coli. Piglets: respiratory tract infections caused by Streptococcus spp and Actinomyces spp, gastro-intestinal infections caused by E. coli. Dogs and cats: respiratory tract infections caused by E. coli, Proteus spp and Gram-positive cocci, urinary tract infections caused by E. coli, Proteus spp and Gram-positive cocci, gastro-intestinal infections caused by E. coli and Gram-positive cocci, skin infections caused by Streptococcus spp. Dosage and administration: For oral administration. Calves, lambs, piglets: 20 - 30 mg ampicillin/kg body weight per day, divided into two doses. Treat for a period of 5 days. Dogs, cats: 20 - 65 mg/ampicillin/kg body weight, divided into two doses. Treat for at least 5 days (respiratory tract infections; 10 - 14 days). Advised withdrawal times: Meat: 28 days. Contra-Indications: Known hypersensitivity to penicillins. Side-effects: Not known. Warnings: Do not combine with therapy utilizing bacteriostatic preparations. Do not administer to animals with an active microbiological digestion. Storage: At room temperature (15 - 25°) and protected from light. Presentation: 10 g injector. |
