Streptopen 20/20 ds

Composition:
Each ml suspension contains:
200,000 IU procaine benzylpenicillin
200 mg dihydrostreptomycin sulphate
Action:
Procaine benzylpenicillin is a narrow spectrum antibiotic, with bactericidal action against Gram-positive bacteria, such as Listeria,
Streptococcus, Staphylococcus (not producing penicillinase), Bacillus anthracis, Clostridium, Corynebacterium, Fusobacterium and
Erysipelas, Pasteurella resistant to tetracyclines. Some strains of Haemophilus and Brucella are sensitive.
Dihydrostreptomycin shows a bactericidal action against Pasteurella, Brucella, Haemophilus, Salmonella, Shigella and Mycobacterium.
The combination of both antibiotics gives a synergistic action against most Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, and prevents a
rapid development of resistance against dihydrostreptomycin.
Therapeutic blood levels are maintained up to 24 hours after im administration.
