Prednisolone 2.5%


Composition:
Each ml suspension contains:
25 mg prednisolone acetate
Action:
Glucocorticosteroid with pronounced anti-inflammatory, antiphlogistic and anti-allergic action. Prednisolone 2.5% has no antibiotic
activity: in case of microbial infection, a treatment with antibiotics is still necessary.
Prednisolone 2.5% is very effective after intra-articular administration in large and small animals, or intramuscularly in small animals.
In case of summer of dry eczema, nonspecific dermatitis or acanthosis nigricans the intense irritation usually subsides within 24-48
hours and the inflammation begins to disappear.
Excellent results have been obtained with pre- and post-operative use in combating stress conditions.
Indications:
Ketosis (acetonemia) in cattle; urticaria, stress, shock and allergic reactions; inflammatory joint lesions; (peri-)arthritis, bursitis,
tendinitis, tendovaginitis, lymphangitis, laminitis, total weakness.
Contra-Indications:
Diabetes mellitus, osteoporosis, existing local or systemic viral infections, pregnancy.
Administration/dosage:
By intramuscular or intra-articular injection:
Intramuscularly
Horses, cattle 4 - 8 ml
Sheep, pigs, goats 0.5 - 3 ml
Foals, calves 0.5 - 3 ml
Dogs, cats 0.5 - 2 mg prednisolone acetate per kg b.w. per day.
In case of intra-articular administration, one should first remove from the joint a quantity of fluid, equal to the volume of prednisolone
2.5% to be injected.
dosage i.a. : large animals 1-3 ml
small animals 0.1-0.8 ml
Shake well before use.
Advised withdrawal times:
milk : 2 days.
meat : 6 days.
Conservation:
At room temperature (15 - 25°C), protected from light.
