Oxytocin

Composition:
Each ml solution contains:
10 IU synthetic oxytocin
Action:
Acceleration of delivery and, after parturition, promotion of expulsion of the placenta. Stimulation and increase of milk secretion.
Synthetic oxytocin has the same action as oxytocin from the hypophysis and pituary lobe, but it is free from vasopressin thus avoiding
unwanted side effects.
Indications:
Weak pain in the course of delivery, lactation failure in sows (mastitis, agalactia), uterus atonia, retentio secundinarum (placenta),
involutio uteri, uterus prolapse.
Administration/dosage:
By intramuscular or subcutaneous injection:
Mare : 4-5 ml
Cow : 4-6 ml
Sow : 2-4 ml
Ewe, goat : 1-3 ml
Bitch : 0.5-1 ml
Cat : 0.3-0.5 ml
Advised withdrawal times:
milk : none.
meat : none
Conservation:
Cool (8 - 15°C), protected from light.
Presentation:
25 x 10 ml vial.
12 x 50 ml vial.
