| Composition: Each ml solution contains: 10 mg acepromazine maleate Action: Acepromazine is a derivative of phenothiazine, and a very powerful tranquillizer, neuro-psycho regulator and neuroleptic. Small surgical incisions can be made, using only Neurotranq, while for larger incisions Neurotranq can reduce the dose of the anaesthetic with 25- 50%. Anaesthesia latency time is 5-7 minutes after intravenous injection, 20-30 minutes with intramuscular injection. Generally action lasts for 6-10 hours. It is sometimes advisable to combine parenteral application with an oral preparation (Neurotranq tablets). Indications: -Contact problems: cannibalism, weaning piglets, tail biting, covering. -Conditions of fear: transport, biting, uncontrollable animals, cramps, colic and sunstroke. -Examination and operation, castration, claw amputation, stitching, etc. -pre-anaesthetic, in combination with local anaesthetic for caesarians etc. Administration/dosage: Light sedation and as pre-anaesthetic: Horses, cattle, pigs : 0.5 - 1 ml per 100 kg b.w. iv : 1 ml per 100 kg b.w. im Cats, dogs : 0.02-0.03 ml per kg b.w. iv/im Strong sedation: double above doses. Advised withdrawal times: milk : 1 day. meat : 1 day. Contra-Indications: Hypotension, hypothermia, anaemia. Conservation: Cool (8 - 15 °C), protected from light. Presentation: Per 12 vials of 50 ml. |
