| Composition: Per ml solution: 100 mg ketamine (as HCl). Action: Ketamine is a quick acting general anaesthetic. Anaesthesia lasts for about 10-30 min.; waking up takes about 30-60 min. Indications: To obtain short anaesthesia, e.g. when treating unquiet animals, for roentgen diagnosis, etc. In combination with atropine and xylazine: Surgery such as ovariectomy, castration, caesarian, cheek operations, tooth extractions, eye, nose and ear operations, tooth cleaning, opening of abscesses... Administration/dosage: By intramuscular injection: Dog : 5-15 mg ketamine per kg b.w. Cat : 15 mg ketamine per kg b.w. Recommended for combination treatments in dogs: 8-20 mg ketamine per kg b.w. 1-2 mg xylazine per kg b.w. im or s.c. 0.05-0.1 mg atropine per kg b.w. im Recommended for combination treatments in cats: 15-20 mg ketamine per kg b.w. 0.5 mg xylazine per kg b.w. s.c. 0.1 mg atropine per kg b.w. im Contra-Indications: decompensatio cordis; liver- or kidney disorders. Conservation: Cool (8 - 15 °C), protected from light. Presentation: Per 25 vials of 10 ml. |
