| Composition: Each ml solution contains: 50 mg kanamycin sulphate 100,000 IU colistin (as sulphate) 50 mg neomycin sulphate 0.5 mg dexamethasone disodium phosphate Action: Kanamycin is a broad spectrum antibiotic, active against Gram-positive (Staphylococcus, Corynebacterium) and especially Gram- negative bacteria, such as Enterobacter, E. coli, Aerobacter, Klebsiella, Proteus et Salmonella. Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Bacteroides spp are resistant. An efficacious blood level is very quickly obtained after intramuscular injection (within 30 minutes). Neomycin shows also a bactericidal activity against several Gram-positive and -negative bacteria, especially Salmonella, Enterobacter and Staphylococcus. Colistin is only active against Gram-negative germs, with a pronounced bactericidal action against e.g. Aerobacter aerogenes, E. coli, Haemophilus influenzae, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella typhimurium and S. dublin. The combination gives a broad spectrum activity against Gram-positive and -negative bacteria. Dexamethasone, with its antiphlogistic and anti-allergic action, improves the diffusion of the antibiotics in the tissues. Indications: All infections caused by Gram-positive and -negative bacteria, especially infections of the intestinal and urogenital systems, or mixed, complex infections in young animals (e.g. diarrhoea in calves). Contra-Indications: Hypersensitivity to aminoglycosides. Animals with kidney disorders. Administration/dosage: By intramuscular injection: All animals : 1 ml per 5 kg b.w. daily for 3-5 days. Advised withdrawal times Meat : 6 days. Milk : 3 days. Conservation: Cool (8 - 15 °C), protected from light. Presentation: Per 12 vials of 100 ml. |
