Diminasan 2.36 g


Composition:
Each 2.36 g sachet contains:
1.05 g diminazene diaceturate
1.31 g antipyrine.
Action:
Chemotherapeutic active against trypanosomes and babesiae. The product is fixed irreversibly on the living piroplasms. Very often a
single injection is sufficient to counteract the infection within 24 to 48 hours.
Uses:
Treatment of:
Babesiosis caused by B. bovis, B. ovis, B. motasi, B. canis and other Babesia species, Theileria annulata.
Trypanosomiasis caused by T. congolense, T. vivax, T. brucei.
Diminasan is very suitable for treatment of mixed infections of trypanosomes and babesiae.
Preparation:
Add the contents of one sachet to 12.5 ml of sterile water to obtain about 15 ml of ready for use solution; The product is readily soluble
in water.
Solutions may be stored up to 5 days at room temperature (15 days if refrigerated), provided the solution is stored in well closed bottles
and protected from light.
Administration/dosage:
By intramuscular injection:
-0.5 ml per 10 kg b.w. for treatment of infections caused by T. congolense and T. vivax. One sachet is sufficient for a cow of 300 kg.
-1.0 ml per 10 kg b.w. for treatment of infections caused by T. brucei and Theileria annulata.
Overdosing (up to double or even triple dose) normally does not provoke secondary reactions in cattle, horses, sheep or pigs.
Do not inject more than 80 ml per animal (cattle) per injection. However, if such dose should be administered, split the dosage into two
doses of 40 ml each with 48 hrs interval.
Conservation:
Store dry, dark and at room temperature (15-25°C).
