Colicilline


Composition:
Each ml suspension contains:
100 mg ampicillin base (as trihydrate)
250,000 IU colistin sulphate
Action:
Ampicillin is a semi-synthetic penicillin with a broad spectrum bactericidal action against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. The spectrum includes Streptococcus, Salmonella, penicillinase negative Staphylococcus, Clostridium, Shigella, Corynebacterium, Actinomyces, Listeria monocytogenes. Relatively sensitive are E. coli, Proteus mirabilis, and P. vulgaris. Colistin is a bactericidal antibiotic with a limited spectrum, and is active against Gram-negative germs such as Aerobacter aerogenes, Corynebacterium diphtheria, E. coli, Haemophilus influenzae, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella and Shigella. Colicilline is an antibiotic with activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. The combination of the two antibiotics gives a synergetic action.
Indications:
Enteritis (E. coli, Salmonella, Clostridium); Streptococcus (arthritis, meningitis); Necrosis of the ear;
Urinary infections (nephritis, urethritis, cystitis - Ampicillin gives very high concentrations in the urine); Systemic treatment of Gram-negative infections ; respiratory infections (pneumonia, bronchitis), etc.
Administration/dosage:
By intramuscular injection only:
All animals: 1 ml per 10 kg b.w. daily for 2-4 days.
Contra-Indications:
Hypersensitivity to penicillins.
Advised withdrawal times:
Meat : 6 days.
Milk : 3 days.
Conservation:
Cool (8-15°C), protected from light.
Presentation:
Per 12 vials of 100 ml.
